About me

My name is Wik, and I am a specialist restorer with a background in both fine art conservation and decorative restoration, with over 8 years of hands-on experience working across a wide range of projects.

I began my career focusing on easel painting restoration before expanding into frame restoration, where I developed a particular passion for gilding and traditional finishing techniques. Over time, I have worked on everything from high-value artworks and antique frames to more personal and sentimental pieces, gaining a broad and practical understanding of materials and methods.

My approach is rooted in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and respect for the original object. I value doing things properly, using appropriate materials, taking the time needed, and ensuring the result feels true to the piece rather than overly modern or artificial.

Alongside my professional work, I have continuously developed my skills independently, exploring areas such as decorative techniques, object restoration, and bespoke finishes. This allows me to offer a flexible and thoughtful approach to each project.

The Northern Gilder is built on the idea of providing high-quality, honest restoration work that is accessible, personal, and grounded in traditional craftsmanship.
